DJAIRI documented research visits to Umm Al-Jimal and desert and basalt landscapes towards Deir Al-Kahf to understand water-harvesting logic and local knowledge. The Human-Centered AI platform presents part of this journey in Water Wisdom: From Umm Al-Jimal to Deir Al-Kahf.
The field material includes photographs and observations of reservoirs, water pathways, architecture and environmental context. The accompanying archive photograph shows field work near site structures. It is not evidence of a completed water system or measured community impact.
Documentation raises practical questions: where does runoff move, how can sediment settle, what does protected storage require, and how can local residents and knowledge holders help define priorities? These questions can become explanations and exercises while specialists assess any intervention on the ground.
Deir Al-Kahf remains an assessment and design pathway in this account, not a completed project. Connecting heritage, water and vegetation sets a research direction; it does not demonstrate increased water resources or restored vegetation before implementation and measurement.
